Deciding to Stay

We fell asleep and woke this morning
Both within an hour of each other.
You pressed to my front,
All skin and darkness.
We should not have slept at all.
There is bacon thawing in the sink
And a cactus named Clementine
That still needs to be potted,
But here we are waking up together
Like we have all the time left in the world.
Your purple blanket is the only thing
Separating us from the morning we have yet
To face. Your hair tickles my nose
And I’m fighting off the urge to sneeze
Because you look so soft
Dressed in seven thirty and it would be a sin
To drag the coarse fingertips of waking
Across your face.
Te echo de menos.
